Scanned + A Winner

February 22, 2012 in Family, Giveaway, Jewelry, School, Shoes

I mentioned in this post that I incorporated fashion into a recent assignment for my Photography class, and since I consider y’all my friends, I thought I’d share. :-) One of our first assignments was to create images using a scanner, also known as scanography. I’d honestly never heard of images being made on a scanner, but there are a number of artist who do so, so I was excited to give it a try. However, I had no idea of where to start; then it came to me the Saturday morning that I’d decided to work on it…start in your closet (that’s what I told myself).

I call this one “Be Still My Heart” because that’s what I say when I see a pair of shoes that I become instantly smitten with when I’m online or shopping in the stores :-) . The edges of the shoe become hazy, because the scanner doesn’t have clarity on rounded edges, and the background is a result of my holding a magazine above the scanner.

I call this one “Accessorized.” Of course my niece and nephew wanted to be a part of my homework, so I accessorized my niece by placing the earrings, a faux flower, and a necklace on the scanner and holding her head right over it while my nephew pressed the scan button. The flower in her hair has a vintage feel, which I love!

This one’s my favorite!! I call it “Beauties and the Beast.” Some of my jewelry pieces were placed on the scanner with my faux fur clutch cover laid on top. The color and texture seems so luxe!! I think I want to get it printed.

Incorporating fashion into my assignments really makes my homework enjoyable and applicable to my daily life, so thanks for indulging me a bit :-) . Now for the winner of my Vintage Valentine giveaway:
