Culottes and Polka Dots
Happy hump day darlings!! Has Spring landed in your city/town yet? Spring is in full effect here, feeling like over 90 degrees this past weekend, and I am pretty happy about the sunshine, aside from the fact that the air conditioner has to be run non-stop, causing higher electric bills, lol. The fabulous Kendra invited me to the launch of her boutique, Kendra’s Beauty Corner, on Saturday, and this is what I wore to brave the heat and humidity.
It’s been a while since I pulled out these culottes, but I am sure I will be getting lots of wear out of them this Summer and need to find more! I don’t really buy shorts sold in stores these days (except for my love of baggy cargo shorts from the men’s department) because they are so short and tiny, and if you haven’t noticed I am a bit modest. Culottes are short enough for my legs to breathe, long enough to not be showing off all of my fine-ness, lol, and loose enough for me to be comfy in the heat. Plus, I LOVE the colors and print!
I wanted to add some extra print to my outfit, but I knew it was to warm for my long sleeve striped tees (apparently I need short sleeve stripes, lol). So I’m now obsessed with the pairing of polka dots and the paisley/floral concoction that is the print of these culottes. If you are wanting to get into print mixing but aren’t sure of how to do so, a handbag, belt, or other accessory is a great place to start. Additionally, prints of similar color and size may be a great staring point for you; for example, small polka dots and thin stripes, or black and white polka dots and black and gingham.

I made this necklace a few months ago from some awesome pins I received from Raeven Western, the dream pusher, a vintage chain bought from BlueLadore on Etsy, and some ribbon. I love the black and white against the vintage gold, but I adore being inspired by it even more. So as you go through the rest of your week….Believe, Be The Change, and Dream!!!
