While I love blogs, mags, and watching the runways, I am truly inspired by the women of the past who wore cinched waist, full skirts, and longer hem lines. The women who loved the pomp and circumstance of a big hat on a Sunday (or any day) morning). Women who loved to show some arm and a little ankle, nothing more.
To me, there is nothing more refined than the clothing of the 50’s and 60’s or clothes inspired by those decades. As I got dressed Sunday morning, I felt more refined with each piece I added.
Dress: Talbots- vintage from Savers Thrift Store (more vintage Talbot’s dresses); Belt and Clutch: Forever 21; Shoes: Valentino- thrifted from Buffalo Exchange (similar); Hat: unknown- Bought from vendor at church function
This outfit reminds me of my childhood watching my granny get dressed for church or for getting together with her friends. I think I’ll wear it the next time I go see her; it’ll put a smile on her face like the last time I wore a hat to church :-).
What decade inspires you and why? I’d love to know!
P.S. Thanks for all of your well wishes on my final projects and your patience while I took a little break 🙂
