Swayed Black

Hey there darlings!!  I must admit I contemplated whether or not to post today since I know a lot of people will be celebrating July 4th here in the States, but I know today is not independence Day everywhere, and I’m not very good at keeping outfit post to myself, lol.  Whenever I have more sets of outfit photos than I need for the week, I want to do a bunch of post per day just so that I can share them all with y’all!  This want to share is also why I do not plan surprises for loved ones too far in advance because I might blabber (but I’d never tell if someone else was planning a surprise for someone, weird huh?).

A few weeks ago the lovely people over at Sway Chic contacted me about sending me something(s) of my choice!  I am not really one for wearing all black, but when I saw this maxi dress on their site, it spoke to me. Within days, the dress was on my doorstep!  I am all about online shops with quick shipping because anticipating the arrival of something I ordered online is the worst for an impatient person like myself.

Like pretty much every maxi dress I’ve ever purchased, this dress hit that weird spot on my leg where it doesn’t sweep the floor like I want and stops at the top of my ankles, one of those things that comes with being 5’9″ (without heels).  However, it was so flowy and luxe feeling that I had to make it work! So, I decided to cut the lining knee length and knot it to get a draping effect, and now I’m completely smitten!  All black is usually too dark for my comfort, but this dress felt light and perfect for the Texas summer heat.  Plus throwing in some polka dot and color blocked pumps was the perfect touch of print and color that I needed :-) .

Dress: Lolita- c/o Sway Chic; Polka Dot Clutch Cover™ :  Clutched & Covered (coming soon); Clutch: Jason Wu for Target; Necklace:  unknown- vintage from Salvation Army (similar concept or this one); Shoes:  Jessica Simpson- Bakers (get them here)

I must admit, I’m pretty obsessed with one of my latest vintage finds, this necklace (I have to remember to get a close up next time)!!  They are like gold mirrors or something.  I don’t know who donated it to Salvation Army, but I’m SO glad they did :-) .  I’d never been to Salvation before, but thanks to this necklace, a sequins blazer, and some other jewelry I scored, I will be going again sooner than later.

Thanks to Sway Chic I now have two black dresses, and I am thinking that is my cap, lol. Do you love to wear black?  If so, what do you do to make sure your outfit isn’t a complete dark bore?

HAVE A WONDERFUL WEDNESDAY/4TH OF JULY!!!

LoVe your outfit and your hair! I too have difficulty finding maxi dresses that hit the top of my foot the way they’re supposed to. Usually they’re ankle length, which just looks dorky. I like what you’ve done to the dress.
I do wear a lot of black but since I started my blog I’ve been experimenting with more color. I like both!
