Your Body Is Fabulous- Allison

Last week I shared the reason for starting this series and let you all know that I wanted to hear from you, and y’all showed out by emailing me to let me know what makes your body fabulous!  For that, I am very grateful.  The YBIF series was started as a result of a book I started writing many years ago, “Your Body Is Fabulous: Dress Like It,” because I feel style and fashion is nothing if you don’t love the body you’re dressing. So, every Thursday I feature a lovely lady, bloggers as well as other gorgeous ladies I know or meet, who tell us what makes their bodies fabulous! The purpose is to empower women to to accept and love their bodies’ as they are by showing women with various body types, skin colors, hair textures, and more. This week the very lovely Allison of Taylor Moseley shares with us!!

What makes your body fabulous?
What makes my body fabulous is my hair. Yes, our hair is part of our body! I like to have fun with my hair- I play with new colors, modern cuts, and I have fun styling it different ways everyday. It keeps my look fresh and different.

What is your favorite thing about how you look? And why?
My favorite thing about how I look is probably my smile. It may not be the best in the world, but I flash it a lot and what is more fabulous than that?

What are your favorite things to wear to flatter your body or just help you feel good?
My go-to outfit is a simple lightweight dress, a flashy belt, great shoes, and unique jewelry. I love to play up the accessories!

When it comes to finding clothes, what are some issues you come across? And how do you solve them?
My biggest issue when shopping for clothing is trying to get the highest quality clothing for the lowest price. I usually do a lot of research before I buy and I only buy things that fill some need or gap in my wardrobe. As far as my body shape, I find it hard to find pants that fit around my tummy. I solve this issue by wearing a lot of dresses! But, I also know that to find a good pair of jeans or leggings, you must try on lots of stuff and invest in a good tailor. It makes it all worth it in the end.

What role do you think the media plays in body acceptance?
I think the media plays a HUGE role in body acceptance. “The Media” is comprised of people like me and you now, not just magazines and TV. Twitter, blogs, facebook, you tube.. the push to be skinny is coming from all around us, even from the people who know its a problem, like myself… You can’t help but get sucked in.

What are your thoughts on female body acceptance and appreciation?
I think if you want to appreciate your body, the best way to go about that is to treat it with respect. Put good food inside your body, take yourself for a walk, give your muscles a good workout, go to the doctor, talk positively about your body and other bodies, etc.

I too think my hair makes my body fabulous Allison, I’m so glad I’m not the only one :-).  I love what she said about treating your body with respect!  If you love your body, how can you not respect it?

Now it’s your turn! Send in your answers and pictures telling me what makes your body fabulous so that I can feature you and further share the body acceptance/love message!
