Blue Skies and Sunshine
Sunday after church, where I wore this outfit, I decided to go visit my best friend and her new baby. The skies were so pretty and blue and the sun was shining, so I thought I’d throw on what have become my faithful cutoffs with the shirt I’d already had on from church earlier in the day. I’m a fan of the denim on denim look, so this outfit was a no brainer for me. I wear heels a lot, though not all of the time, so I thought it’d be fun to share an outfit with you guys where I am dressed down a bit and standing at my natural height of 5’9″
.
Shirt: Merona- Target (similar); Shorts: Mossimo; Shoes: Forever 21
I ordered these shoes from Forever 21 a couple of weeks ago, but when they arrived last week, I was a bit on the fence about them. I loved the color, but wasn’t sure if I loved them on. Since I bought them to wear this Spring/Summer, I tested them out with shorts and skirts in my mirror at home, and decided to keep them, when I was getting dressed in this outfit. Every now and then I come across something that doesn’t scream love me or hate me, so it takes me a moment to make a decision
.
There comes a time in life, especially after you’ve gone through a difficult time, where you just feel like the sun is shining on you, even when it’s literally raining outside. Though things in my life are far from perfect, that’s where I am at this point of my life. I feel like God’s smiling His sunshine down on me giving me the light I need to bloom, like the roses sitting on my nightstand
, and I am enjoying the process, as I know I will need to remember it the next time life hits me with a hard blow!
I don’t know where you may be, but if you are facing something difficult right now, please do know that the sun always shines after darkness!
P.S. I didn’t have intentions of getting all introspective with this post, but sometimes I must just let the fingers do the talking.

Awwww boo! I’m so happy happy happy to hear that! He is always shining down on you friend, sometimes the skies are just too cloudy to see him. LOVE YOU.

Love your laid back cutesy look. The flats are adorable, they remind me of the jenni kayne flats which are ridiculously high. Im so jelly that you can wear things like that right now cause its freezing cold where i am! Love the scarf and your legs look GOOD!
thanks for the message…you are so right, even on those dreary and nasty days, the sun can be shining on your life and i def have God to thank for that.

I just found your blog, and I absolutely love it! It’s inspirational both in terms of life and fashion- something that seems to be rare amongst the other blogs I’ve read!
Also, very cute shorts/outfit! I’m from Toronto, so seeing a bit of sunshine reminded me that winter will (eventually) be over here too!
All the best, and very glad to have found your blog! xo
great outfit. sunny day, denim – perfection.

You do look happy today!
Your post reminded me that we recently sang “God has Smiled On Me” in choir at church. You’re probably already familiar with it, but just in case you’re not, I looked for a YouTube and found this pretty good one:

Our choir didn’t have a soloist, and the tempo was a bit faster, but it was really fun to sing
.
I hope life won’t hit you with a hard blow again

I agree with you 100% there are days–especially after gloomy ones–where I KNOW God is shining right down on me!
P.S. The shoes are super cute!
Glad you decided to keep the shoes because I think they are super cute. You will love them even more in spring time. Great color.

I’m new to reading your blog and I just think you have the cutest sense of style. I love it! I have NO style – my 9 year old daughter has more style than I do! I guess it’s just something you are born with! But anyway – I just love your blog!
God bless!
