Keeping It Real
LISTEN. I’m a real woman. I have lumps and bumps. Aches and pains. My hips are 46″ wide. My knees hurt if I sit Indian style too long. I have a bit of fat in my mid section that may be minuscule to others but matters to me. I work out, but I don’t want to lose weight, lol. I love my curves. However, some days I am not crazy in love with my body. I love candy and sweets, and though I don’t eat a lot of fast food, I could certainly eat better. I like tight jeans and flowy skirts. My legs are kinda amazing (vain moment, lol), but I don’t feel the need to show them off all of the time. I don’t like my feet. I love my skin, though I spent most of my life hating it. Sometimes I have a pantyline because I’m wearing underwear when I probably should be we wearing a thong. I am a very nice person, but I don’t take any crap. I am all about female empowerment and body acceptance (Your Body Is Fabulous Thursday anyone?), but I sometimes need to take my own advice and read my own YBIF series. I love hanging out with my friends, especially over Mexican food and margaritas, and when doing so, I sometimes eat so much that my stomach protrudes a bit more than usual, leaving me wishing I’d taken outfit pics before lunch with the girls instead of after .
Over the weekend I met up with two of my friends at El Real restaurant, in the Montrose area (if you live in Houston), and I had such a blast eating queso and salsa with chips, drinking margaritas and munching on a chicken quesadilla! I honestly almost didn’t take pictures of my casual lunch outfit because I was so full and a bit insecure about my tummy pudge from eating so good, but at the end of the day, I’m just a real everyday woman, so why not right?
My name is Rocquelle. I am 5’9″, 160 pounds, and am no supermodel (I wouldn’t dare give up my curves to be one either). I am just a woman with a style blog, and I appreciate y’all for reading. <3
P.S. Shout out to my friend Crystal who excitingly stepped behind the camera when she realized I was getting ready to pull out my tripod and camera remote .
