Color-blocked Paisley

Lovelies, can I just tell y’all that I am breathing a sigh of RELIEF as I type this!!  Though I still have to present this evening, I have completed my last project for the semester, and it had me STRESSED OUT, lol.  I just have one small assignment due next week based on my final project, and I will be done with homework until Fall :-).  Can we all say woosah?!!  lol

When I got dressed for church Sunday, I just wanted to be comfortable and super relaxed , after spending Saturday night skating with my church group.  I hadn’t skated in years, so Sunday morning, I was hurting something major, lol.  I bought a dress form Imperfect Concepts back in 2011, but when it arrived, it refused to go over my hips, so I had it turned into a top, a top I unfortunately have only worn once before Sunday (shame on me).  Even though I’ve only worn it twice now, I look at it with adoration almost daily, lol.  The colors, paisley print, and symmetrical color blocking is the only statement a girl truly needs, but I threw in my comfy DIY hand panted sandals (tutorial here) because I can’t seem to resist an extra little color :-).

Top:  Anne Crimmins for Umi Collection- Imperfect Concepts (this is what it looked like as a dress); Jeans:  Gap; Shoes:  Mosimo- Target (DIY paint job);  Clutch:  ASOS (similar); Black and White Chevron Clutch Cover- Clutched & Covered

Are you a fan of getting things altered?  or Do you prefer to only wear things as they come?  A tailor is a girl’s best friend in my book!

I love the gree in your air, my dear Rocquelle.

  • Love love that blouse.

  • Congrats on almsot being done for the semester! LOVE your top and matching hair…bomb!

As far as tailoring, I usually dont get that done but i hear it makes a huge difference in your clothes. I should start doing that.

  • Love how you altered the top from a dress and how you styled it, great job!!!

  • That former dress is the business!!!! I love that you turned into a top. I was surely going to ask where I could cop one from.

I am a fan of getting things altered. One of my faves was a pair of dress jeans that flared a little too much for my short legs. I took them to my former tailor and had them made into the perfect length shorts. It’s my only pair of shorts. It was worth every cent.

  • I am a huge fan of alterations in clothing! I love to change the designs in my clothes and be creative. My grandmother taught me well as she was a clothing designer herself. Cute outfit!!! As always I love when you wear bright colors they always go well with your skin tone, you have a pretty skin color. I’m also proud to say that my stylist has convinced me to get color in my hair for my summer photos! I’m excited!!! Have a good weekend!

  • I don’t really have the patience to alter anything by sewing, so I just tuck a dress in to make it into a top or pull a tube top dress down to make it a skirt! I really like the colors of this outfit! So 80s (my fave decade). The bluish color in your hair is perfect with the color of the outfit too!

  • I love this top! It’s so breezy and retro. I had a vision of an outfit..I will text you lol!

As one grad student to another, congratulations! Awesome top.
