Denim and Flowers

I must admit, I’m one of those people that feel that denim can be worn in just about any occasion (excluding funerals, weddings, and formal occasions, of course).  So throwing a denim shirt over a floral dress was a no brainer for me when I got dressed for church Sunday morning!  I was visiting a church I’d never been to before, so I did wonder if it was appropriate for that church, but I figured if it wasn’t, oh well, lol. I believe church is about getting God’s Word, and not what you wear, so I tend to wear what feels good to me :-).

I’ve had this dress for about a year, and it just dawned on me that I’ve never worn it as such.  I’ve worn it as a skirt with a shirt on top, and as a top, with the bottom tucked in a different skirt.  The more I think about it, I don’t think I’ll ever wear it as a dress, lol.  Do you wear your clothes as something they aren’t meant to be?  I’m sure I’m not the only one :-).  What about denim, do you feel like it should only be worn in casual situations?

You look fab. I have a similiar denim chambray + silk skirt that I’ll wear to church. The saints don’t say a thing. I honestly think the dress code wars begin for age 45+ women and up in the church.

  • I love this look.

I used to stress out a lot about what to wear to church. After about six months of agonizing, I realised that it really doesn’t matter. God made me the way I am and I figure he’s probably fine with me being myself rather than dressing the way I think people expect me to.
