Your Body Is Fabulous- Tarsha

The YBIF series was started as a result of a book I started writing many years ago, “Your Body Is Fabulous: Dress Like It,” because I feel style and fashion is nothing if you don’t love the body you’re dressing. So, every Thursday I feature a lovely lady, bloggers as well as other gorgeous ladies I know or meet, who tell us what makes their bodies fabulous! The purpose is to empower women to to accept and love their bodies’ as they are by showing women with various body types, skin colors, hair textures, and more.  Today, the lovely Tarsha shares her fabulousness with us!

What makes your body fabulous?

My body is fabulous because I love and embrace my curves and muscular tone.

What is your favorite thing about how you look? And why?

I love that I don’t look my actual age. I’m days away from turning 38 and everyone always questions my age or birth year. I take it that I wear my youthfulness well. By the way, yes I have grey hair. Although I’m nearly 38 years old, I feel better and healthier than ever. I also love my smile and love to smile!

What are your favorite things to wear to flatter your body or just help you feel good?

I love wearing maxi dresses, skirts, and heels. I feel skirts and heels accent my legs and calf muscles.

When it comes to finding clothes, what are some issues you come across? And how do you solve them?

I have a small waist, big hips, and junk in my trunk, so, often times I run into the problem of jeans having a gap in the back around my waist area. To alleviate this problem, I tend to shop at stores that I know make jeans for curvy women like Gap, The Limited, Banana Republic, and Old Navy. Also I overcome this challenge by wearing a longer shirt and accenting the look with a wide waist belt.

What role do you think the media plays in body acceptance?

I think the media focuses so much on women that have a taller and slimmer built. However, more women of various sizes and shapes are getting more recognition.

What are your thoughts on female body acceptance and appreciation?

I feel that a woman must like and love herself, which includes who she is and her body image. I like and love the person I look at everyday in the mirror. I appreciate being created with dark skin, kinky hair, and curves. I always say God knew what he was doing when he created me. Lol

LOL, I know that’s right Tarsha!  God made us each perfectly imperfect, as He intended.  Sidenote:  Can you believe she is 38?!!!

Now it’s your turn! Send in your answers and pictures telling me what makes your body fabulous so that I can feature you and further share the body acceptance/love message!
