It’s been almost two years since the end of my 8 year relationship, and it’s been an adventure, to say the least! While, I’ve had some fun in my singledom, I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t ready to meet that special guy soon. However, I’m patient and have found this time to be useful in self-discovery and moments of clarity, things that I wouldn’t trade for the world. With each passing day, I’m learning to love myself, flaws and all, more and more! So many times we single gals (and married ones too) spend so much time worrying about who loves us and who we can love, that we forget the importance of loving ourselves. Scars, joys, attitude, successes, failures, and more; they are all part of what makes us who we are, and we must love and embrace all of these things that make us one of kind, in order to properly love others.
So, if you’re a single lady, like myself, don’t wait on a man to take you out. Spend some time alone; take yourself out to dinner. If you’re a married gal, please don’t forget to take time for yourself; your husband will thank you for it :-).
In the words of the oh so fabulous RuPal,
“If you don’t love yourself, how in the hell you gonna love somebody else? Can I get an AMEN?”
