Lovelies, ever since I started the Your Body Is Fabulous series in 2011 (see the very first one here), I’ve quietly longed to host an intimate workshop for women that deals with body image and style. I felt/feel like we are often reluctant to discuss our body image issues, but can really benefit from doing so. On April 12, 2014, I hosted my first workshop, Your Body Is Fabulous: Dress Like It!, and it was such a rewarding experience. 🙂
There was laughter, honesty, fashion, food, and most of all empowerment…everything I could’ve hoped for! Some ladies walked in with garments that didn’t go back home with them, some left with a greater appreciation of pieces they already own, and everyone told me they left feeling better about themselves, physically and mentally.
I must admit, there were a few times where I wanted to throw in the towel on the workshop and simply cancel (i’d already rescheduled a few times), but thanks to my amazing friends, I pushed one, and I’m glad I did. I simply wanted to be able to follow through on something I’ve wanted to do for a long time, whether there were 10 women (my target number) or 0 women. There is a great sense of accomplishment that comes with finishing something on your list of goals, and I’m truly appreciative of the experience.
Thanks to the encouragement of the ladies who attended, as well as those of you who have asked me about webinars or the next workshop, I am happy to say that I pan to do another YBIF workshop again in July! In the long term, I’d like to be able to host the workshop monthly (weekly even), but for now I’m just grateful to be taking baby steps :-).
