Why Fit In?

I spent a great deal of my life trying to fit in, better yet actually trying to hide hoping that no one would notice me or see what I look like.  After years of self-discovery and growth, I’ve come to realize that I wasn’t made to look like the next lady, to take the same path to success as the next person, or made to fit in among the crowd.  I wasn’t made to enter a room and not be appear peculiar in some way, and I’m okay with that.   I’ve come to accept and love that about myself!! Anytime, I happen to try to take the blended road more traveled, in vary areas of my life, it just doesn’t feel right.

“Why are you trying so hard to fit in when you were born to stand out?” – Ian Wallace

I say all of that to say that, it’s okay to be different.   It’s okay to go off the beaten path.  It’s okay to stand out from the crowd, and I’m not just referring to looks or style choices. Of course, I’m all about creating a style that is uniquely you,  but in life. so often, we are trying to make sure that we are following along, living the way in which society says that we should.  We are often afraid of what society or family and friends will think if we don’t succeed and flow in the normality of life.   So, today I’m writing just to just to encourage you (while encouraging myself).  If here is something you’re considering doing, something you’re interested in that does not fit in with what you think the norm should be, don’t be afraid of that thing! Embrace it, open your arms to it, and then watch God show out in your life.  Whether it’s something as small as, trying a print or color you’ve thought too bold, or something big like taking a major step in your career life,  don’t fear being different and not fitting in with what everyone else is doing.  It is our differences that make us uniquely who we are.

“Those who follow the crowd usually get lost in it.”  -Rick Warren

What area of your life are you hesitant to stand out from the crowd in?  How have you come to embrace the things that make you different?
